100% environmentally safe technology for acetylene cylinder disposal

Technovit is the only company in the world to offer a certified and environmentally safe technology for the disposal of acetylene cylinders. This technology enables 100% recycling of all parts of acetylene cylinders, including those containing asbestos and asbestos-free materials.

Permit for cross-border transport

  • ​K přeshraniční přepravě vyřazených acetylenových lahví je potřeba povolení Ministerstev životního prostředí v zemi původu odpadu, všech tranzitních zemí a Ministerstva životního prostředí České republiky.

  • Technovit ve spolupráci s původcem odpadu zajistí všechny dokumenty k získání povolení.

Transport

  • Technovit ensures the cross-border transport of decommissioned acetylene cylinders to our facility through a certified transport company. The company holds all necessary training and permits for the transport of hazardous waste.

Cylinder preparation

  • Upon delivery of decommissioned acetylene cylinders to our facility, the cylinders are sorted by the type of solvent. Caps and valves are removed from the cylinders.

Solvent distillation

  • The distillation of acetone from the cylinder is carried out in a water bath. The distillation of DMF from the cylinder takes place in a specially modified gas furnace. The distilled solvents are repurposed for secondary use.

Decommissioning

  • By burning through the valve thread and cylinder body, the cylinders are decommissioned, preventing any misuse during subsequent transport for final recycling.

Melting in furnaces

  • Vítkovice Heavy Machinery operates electric arc furnaces for processing steel and manufacturing steel products, where decommissioned acetylene cylinders serve as a primary raw material.

  • Asbestos is hazardous solely due to its fibrous crystalline structure. By melting it at temperatures above 1150°C, its melting point, it transforms into a harmless inert mineral.
